Trying to prevent anxiety creates anxiety

Anxiety is all about prevention. A fear that if we don't quickly attend to all the various areas of life, something might go horribly wrong. We want to do everything we can to control our circumstances, to control life. 

Eventually, we can get to the point where anxiety is the thing we wish to prevent most. This is what my teacher refers to as the catch-22 of anxiety. We have become anxious about our anxiety. It's a horrible loop. Believe me, I know, I've been there.

Here's a quick tip for anyone out there suffering from anxiety. I'll warn you though, it's a bitter pill to swallow if you're an anxiety sufferer. You will likely prefer a preventative tool, technique or drug. But it's the truth, and here it is:

The cure for your anxiety lies in knowledge and understanding, not in prevention.

No technique can permanently cure you. Not yoga, breathing exercises, tapping, etc. These are only tools to help calm you down. The cure comes through realisation and understanding of life. The cure is wisdom and peace of mind.
