Celebration of life planning

A celebration of life, planned with care.

Because every life deserves more than a 30-minute service. Art of Life is a celebration of life planner working across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast — curating warm, story-led gatherings that feel like the person you're remembering.
A celebration of life is not a smaller funeral. It's a different shape entirely. The room sounds like their playlist. The walls hold their photographs. There are speeches if you want them, or an open mic if thats more their style. We build the day around the person, not a template — and we carry the logistics so the family can be present.
From Noosa to New Farm to Burleigh, our Queensland families come to us because something about a traditional service doesn't quite fit the life it's meant to mark. They want celebration of life ideas that feel personal and modern, not industry. That's what we do.

Why families choose this

Benefits of a curated celebration of life.

A celebration of life gives families room to grieve and to laugh in the same afternoon. It replaces the awkwardness of an unfamiliar chapel with a space that already feels like home — and lets the people who loved them stand up, sit down, and speak in their own words.

  • Truly personal. Music, food, photographs, artefacts and stories chosen by the family — not by a director.
  • Unhurried. No 30-minute slot. The day breathes at the pace your people need it to.
  • Inclusive. Kids can wander. Friends can drop in. People can share a memory without rehearsing it.
  • Keepsake by design. The framed photography and curated keepsakes go home with the family afterwards — to live on walls, not in storage.
  • Held by professionals. You make the meaningful decisions. We carry the logistics, venue liaison, suppliers, AV, run-sheet and styling.

The process

How a celebration of life comes together with us.

Our planning process is structured but never clinical. Most families across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast move through it across two to six weeks, although we regularly work faster when needed.

01 · A quiet first conversation

We meet — at your home, by phone, or somewhere quiet — and listen. Who were they? What did the room feel like when they walked into it? What would feel wrong to do? Nothing is committed at this point.

02 · A design for the day

We propose a creative direction: venue, layout, photography curation, music, food, the shape of speeches and music. You shape it. We refine it.

03 · Curation and production

We collect photographs, video and artefacts and curate them into an exhibition — childhood, love, work, play, the in-between. Framing, printing, signage, AV and styling are produced in-house with our trusted Queensland partners.

04 · The day, led by you

You arrive to a finished room. We hold the run-sheet, the microphone, the music cues and the suppliers. You hold the people. Afterwards, the framed work goes home with the family — the memorial continues on your walls.

Talk to us about your loved one — gently, and without obligation.

Frequently asked

Answers, openly.

Across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, these are the questions families ask us most.

What is a celebration of life, and how is it different to a funeral?
A celebration of life is a personal, story-led gathering that honours who someone was rather than the way they died. There's no clergy unless you ask for one, no rigid order of service, and no 30-minute window. Across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast we curate the day around your loved one — their music, their humour, the rooms they would have walked through proudly.
How long does it take to plan a celebration of life?
Most of our Queensland families work to a two-to-six week timeline, although we have curated meaningful celebrations in as little as five days. Pre-planning takes the pressure off entirely. We move at your pace and carry the logistics so you can be present with the people who loved them.
Do you only work on the Sunshine Coast?
No. Art of Life is based in South East Queensland and curates celebrations of life across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. We travel further by arrangement when a family asks us to.
Can you help if we already have a venue in mind?
Absolutely. Whether it's a coastal home, a warehouse gallery, a winery or a quiet beach, we'll design the celebration around the space you've chosen — and handle the styling, photography curation, AV and on-the-day flow.
Is a celebration of life appropriate before or after a traditional funeral?
Both. Many families hold a small private cremation and then commission a full Art of Life celebration weeks later, when the people who loved them most can travel and gather without the rush of a funeral week.
How do we get started?
Send a private enquiry and we'll reply within one working day. There's nothing committed by reaching out — just a gentle, unhurried conversation about who they were and what would feel right.
