Life story curation

Preserve my life story, properly.

A legacy project for the people who come next. Art of Life captures, restores and curates your story — interviews, photographs, video, letters, keepsakes — into something your family will treasure forever. We work with clients across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Most lives end up scattered across a hundred phone libraries, an old shoebox in the laundry and a hard drive nobody can find the cable for. Family storytelling fades the same way — it lives in the people who knew them, until one day it doesn't.
Life story curation is the antidote. We sit with you, listen carefully, capture your voice on the record, scan the photographs that matter, and design a beautifully bound, fully archived legacy project that your grandchildren — and theirs — can still hold.

Interviews

Life story interviews, on the record.

We record long-form audio and, where you'd like, video interviews — guided by a researcher who's read the room. You don't perform. You talk. We come back with a respectful, gently edited oral history: your voice, telling your story, in your words. It becomes the spine of the entire legacy project.

Memory collection

Memory collection, with patience.

We sit with you and the people who love you — partners, children, oldest friends — and gather the stories you'd never put on a CV. The day you met. The terrible holiday that became the favourite holiday. The job no one knew you nearly took. Curated, cross-referenced, captioned.

Preservation

Video and photo preservation, archive-grade.

We professionally scan prints, slides and negatives at archival resolution. Home video on VHS, mini-DV and 8mm is transferred, cleaned and stabilised. Everything is catalogued, captioned and delivered as a private digital archive — plus high-resolution masters you keep forever.

Original photographs and tapes always come home with you. Nothing is thrown away.

Keepsakes

Family keepsakes, designed to last.

Your story is shaped into beautifully designed deliverables: a hardback legacy book, a curated set of framed photographs, a private film, and a quiet digital archive your family can revisit on any anniversary, any birthday, any quiet Sunday.

When the time eventually comes for a celebration of life, the source material for the memorial exhibition already exists — captured while you were here to shape it.

Talk to us about your loved one — gently, and without obligation.

Frequently asked

Answers, openly.

Across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, these are the questions families ask us most.

What is life story curation?
Life story curation is the careful, professional capture of someone's life — their voice, their photographs, their video archives, the artefacts they care about — preserved as a legacy project for the family. It's part oral history, part family storytelling, part archival design.
Do I have to be unwell to do this?
Not at all. Most of our life story clients are simply at a point in life — a milestone birthday, retirement, becoming a grandparent — where preserving their story feels worth doing properly. Others come to us with a diagnosis and want to leave something lasting. Both reasons are equally welcome.
What does the finished legacy project look like?
It varies by family. Most include a long-form recorded interview, a digitised and restored photo archive, scanned letters and documents, a beautifully bound printed book, and a private digital archive the family can revisit forever. Some add a short documentary film. We tailor the deliverables to the life.
How do you preserve photos and videos?
We professionally scan, restore and archive original prints, slides, negatives and home video — VHS, mini-DV, 8mm — and deliver high-resolution masters plus a curated, captioned archive. Nothing is thrown away. Originals come home with you.
Where do you record family storytelling sessions?
Wherever feels comfortable. We record at home across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, in our preferred studios, or on a meaningful location — a childhood beach, the family kitchen, the back verandah.
Can the life story be used at a future memorial?
Yes — and many families plan it that way. The curated photographs, interviews and video become the source material for a future Art of Life memorial exhibition, so when the time comes, the work is already done.

A story this big deserves to be kept.
